Cigar: 601 Habano Oscuro La Punta
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Oscuro
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua

Construction/Appearance (10 points):

Matt » I love the figurado shape.  It is perfectly constructed through the cap.  The dark brown color is a little splotchy with small veins visible, but that really doesn’t take away from the beautiful construction. – Score: 9 of 10

Larry » 601 is a good looking cigar with a dark and oily appearance with veins visible, but not near the cap. It has a very nice Belicoso shape. – Score: 10/10

Draw, Ash Quality, Burn Quality (20 points):

Matt » Draw: As with the figurado shape, the initial draw is a bit tough, but this cigar opened right up offering the ideal draw you look for in a cigar; not so light that when you look at it and it draws, and not so tight you feel like you are drinking a McDonald’s milkshake. It’s right in that sweet spot. Ash Quality: Solid stack that only fell because I tapped it off. Burn Quality: Perfect the whole way through – no flaws. – Score: 20 of 20

Larry » Draw: Slightly hard to draw at first probably because of the Belicoso shape, but that quickly changed to an easy draw. Ash Quality: I got a long light grey ash that hung on well over 2″. Burn Quality: Very even burn, no runs, no hits, no errors. – Score: 20/20

Smoking Characteristics (30 points):

Matt » Start: From the very start, the smoke fills and coats your mouth, and you are hit with a salty bitterness and some warm spice in the background. Middle: The spice is a nice touch in the background, and the bitterness remains, but it is toned down and more cocoa and leather notes come through. The Finish: No change from the mid-way point through the finish the cigar generique du cialis. – Score: 25 of 30

Larry » From the very first draw you are reminded that you are smoking a full bodied cigar. As soon as the Belicoso shape opens up you have a huge volume of rich smoke. I am not one to notice “peach nuances with a leathery finish”, I just know what I like. This has a spicy full bodied taste, good aroma, and a peppery flavor that stays with it for most of the cigar. – Score: 28/30

Overall Impression (40 points):

Matt » This is a beauty of a cigar with a flawless burn and construction.  I have to say, I was intimidated to smoke this cigar because I had heard how stout it is, but I have to say that while it lives up to being a bold cigar, it is not overwhelming, but instead balanced.  My only complaint is the bitterness that did tone down, but was persistent throughout.   For me that is a deciding factor in the enjoyment of this cigar. – Score: 33

Larry » This 601 is a very good cigar. It was full bodied all the way through without being over powering. The draw, the burn and the flavor was good all the way through. This is a cigar I have enjoyed before and will continue to purchase and enjoy for some time to come. – Score: 38/40

Matt’s Total Score: 87 out of 100
Larry’s Total Score: 96 out of 100

Average Score: 91.5 out of 100
